Italy's votes Monday to oust sleazy politics and cronyistic society

The guardian has a interesting article on the surging sentiment for the Five Star Movement (M5S). The voters are sick and tired of the current parties and are rallying behind Beppe Grillo, the leader of the M5S. The sentiment here in the Italy is no different then the one in India with the AAP, the party of the Mango people lead by Arvind Kejriwal. When the BJP protests the origin's of the Sonia Gandhi, they were protesting against themselves. The Italian voters are no different then the voters in India and so are the Italian politcians who are no different then Indian sleazy politcians.  Berlosconi is a example high handed leadership which has cost the country dear which parallels the Gandhi family and Mr Vadra who appear to have suberverted the system to their advantage to no end.

Will this change in leadership in Italy go after the AgustaWestland bribery scandal and bring down all the middlemen in Italy, UK and India to justice ? If Italians want it, they could do it. After all Rome was never built in a day. For bloggers Beppe Grillo will be liked instantly as he is on of them.

I am surprised by the silence. Technically, the Euro already seems doomed. Greece, Ireland and Portugal want to leave the Euro, Spain is in a massive depression and Italy is also saying it wants to leave...If the Euro collapses, we will have a tectonic shift and the world will be plunged into a massive panic. India seems to be in the throes of a deep recession, I think the RBI will be forced to print money soon and inflation is going to skyrocket. Real estate as an asset class has been blown out of all proportions. We should see an interesting end to this mother of all bubbles soon.

You are a bit behind the curve mate, (unofficial) inflation has been running close to 15-20% for past two-three years. At first the 50p coin went out of fashion. Nowadays I can't find 1 Re coin. Actually I still have a 1 Re coin from the 90's and it weights more than three 2 Re coins.

There will be a market panic yes but I don't think there will be any 'tectonic shift' as you say. I have stopped hoping for any 'dramatic' changes, it's pointless, real changes are much less dramatic.

Looks like Monti is winning and not Berlusconi and also not Grillo.

In other words, it is Congress and not BJP and also not AAP or any other third front.

Bottomline: No change... Italy or India.

Looks like Italians have given their verdict, it's broken I agree but Grillo got 25% of the votes, in fact he's the single biggest party if you don't take coalitions into account.

Berlusconi also did well, only one who didn't was Monti.

The concession given by chidambaram is comedy of sorts.

1. first home only
2. Only up to 25 Lakh loans
3. only for new loans

All these ensures nobody use this. Even if somebody uses the benefit is accrued only for first 2-3 years as the interest amount goes down as years go by....

@above, I think chidu wants to inflate housing prices in tier-4 (??!) cities, small tows & municipalities & villages which are the only places where there is a chance of getting a house at <25L. He is expecting that after this announcement ppl in those small towns will be more motivated to buy a house there & hence push up demand a little (and project a much much higher demand to scare ppl who are contemplating whether or not to buy there) and inflate prices there as well.. hmmm..

Guys, What will happen if the 1% TDS on property above 50 lakhs is implemented as in the budget? Will it drive away black money from RE transactions? Maybe this one simple thing will bring all kinds of focus lights on the transactions in this muddy sector..

How many actually believe the increase in tax rate on ultra rich will actually matter?

Instead of that, how about closing the gaping black money loophole.

For starters, GOI can require all investments coming from Mauritius to provide a full trace of the source of money.

Mauritius is the source of around 40% of foreign direct investment into India.

After "chor" Indians have sent their cash to Mauritius, they can even invest it back in Indian stocks, bonds and RE by putting it into any of a huge number of India-focused investment funds that are headquartered on the island. In other words, they can profit from progress in India’s economy without paying the Indian government a cent.

Dont expect them to change their policies.

Only when one politician gets caught red handed the system can be changed.

Earlier it was easy to fool people due to control of information.
It no longer will be true in the near future.

Also the new belt announced in the chennai corridor is sure to benefit him since real estate will develop there. Im sure he must have purchased a lot of land at throwaway prices around that corridor.

Its been like a big joke the last year or two. Nobody is buying, yet prices keep going up...I crack up every time I see "experts" saying that real estate is going to go up further and this is the right time to buy....

These are long term holders who are cashing out. The new buyers are businessmen and politicians with black money. The long term holders are house poor.
