Barring a few, most of them are owned by non kannadigas. (Mainly Tamil and Malayalees). In some of the small apartment complexes that i saw, not a single kannadiga family. This is even more surprising. While I dint like any of the house/flats, i wouldn't have taken it for rent even if liked it.
